Now a days no, girls can break their hymens by a bad fall, an accident or even the use of tampons or the GYN during an examination could break the hymen for med purposes. I think a girls virginity should be measured by the purity in her heart and what she feels at the moment of her first penetration by a man. There are girls out there who are "virgins" yet they've slept around more than Madonna, they've sucked licked and done about every other thing imaginable but have not had their hymen broken, in my case I had an elastic hymen and it didn't break during 3 years of marriage to my 1st hubby but my 2ND hubby came by and broke it on the first try..you be the judge of what "virginity" means...

No that is a very old fashioned idea from when women barely left the home. jumping falling or riding a bike may even break it and using tampons is very likely to have done so.
