You are absolutely fine. It can take quite awhile for your body's hormones to chill out, and go back to "normal". You've had major flucuations of your body and your hormones and I think it is a lot to ask that they just go back right away.
The Pill does the same thing, makes your body thing you are pregnant, and after getting off the pill, it can take a LONG time to go back to normal as well.
Just relax, don't stress and eventually your period will arrive when your body is ready to conceive again. Stress, illness, weight loss/gain, breast feeding, travel, all these things can cause you not to ovulate and therefore not to have a period. (I imagine you have plenty of stress with a new baby!) Unless you want to get pregnant right now, you're fine. Let your body recover!!
Are you on birth control? because that could affect your cycle
It can take up to 6 months after your done breast feeding to return to your regular menstrual cycle. Just our bodies way of freaking us out. If your still worried your OBGYN can be a great resource
i got 1 word and thats menopause and its a blessing LOL!!but really its when a women menstration stops fro good.
I personally don't trust at home pregnancy tests. If that's the only form of pregnancy test you took, then I suggest that you go to the doctor and they can do a blood test. It could just be a hormonal imbalance too. Another reason to go see your doctor. If something is wrong, your doctor can fix it. Good luck.
breast feeding does interupt your menstral or cause irregular bleeding. just the fact that you were still breast feeding in that month is a possibility, but if you are cramping i would go and get a blood test b/c you could be experiencing an early miscarriage and at this point only a blood test could determine if that's what's happening. it's easier to get pg quicckly if you breastfeed. so i'd make an appointment w/your ob/gyn. just to make sure. your body may not have been ready for another pg. best wishes. please let us know what happened by updating the details. hope all is well.
