I agree with Jax. You need to get yourself calm and be comforting toward your girlfriend at this time because she's probably worried enough as it is. Just try to be as supportive as possible, just like with any other surgery that anyone else has. Support means more than you will ever know.
Unless she has major health issues, she'll survive!! Please don't pass on your fears to her. Pelvic inflamatory disease is VERY common and not life threatening, so calm yourself. Its fixable.

It's natural to feel afraid of having an operation. She should talk about her fears to her Doctor or Nurse.
All she needs is reassurance that everything will be ok. Just offer her loads of this and be there for her! Hope everything goes well!
