I wear heels a lot and often run around in them. Can this cause anything?

I learned how to run in heels at a young age (teenager) now I don't even think twice..If I am late for something or a bus is coming, what am I supposed to do, act ladylike? no way.I run for it. But someone told me I could get a sore back? excuse me? is that true?

I am talking about stiletto heels.

Answers:
Walking around in high heels all the time causes your achilles tendon to shorten, which can cause problems. Having pain in your leg muscles could affect your back. Also, I have experienced that high-heeled shoes do not adequately absorb shock to the foot. I end up with shin splints sometimes because of this - because of the pain caused by the shin splints, I then end up walking funny with an awkward gait - thereby causing back pain. It's sort of indirect, but yes high heels can cause back pain. People are not built to wear high-heeled shoes all the time. You should wear them in moderation.

you can get "bunions" (sp?) where in that part on the side below your toe gets bigger.

other than that. i don't see any other problems. maybe some foot injury because heels are not really that supportive.
