Talk to your doctor. There are so many medications to choose from. They usually start with a low dose of a diuretic, or a beta blocker, or an ACE inhibitor. If you have side effects the doctor can switch you to a different one.
mucles or joint pains are usually from cholesterol medicines, not everyone gets those
ace inhibitors, thiazides are some good ones if the kidney function allows
beta blockers are good as well

Ask your doctor about Atenolol. Not all blood pressure medications last all day and this is one of them. It has helped me a great deal and feel much better. I have not experienced any side effects and have been taking it for over 6 months. I am 37 years old.
Also, try low sodium diet as well as weight loss if you haven't already.

none of my bp meds ever made my bones ache, age did that, i dont know about the leg problem, your doctor knows what to try, we are not doctors,
my mom uses amplopedin. (I'm not very sure of the spellings and it could be a brand name). She's 47 and doing ok. Walks a lot and all, even with HBP. But the dosage depends of how high the blood pressure is and weight, physical fitness and stuff. Safer to consult a family doctor that get someone's advice off the net. some people are allergic to medicine and some HBP medication cause cholostrol levels to go up. Also, pain and body stiffness do not show up with certain drugs. Could be a side effect or an different symptom for something else. good luck
