Hysterectomy - there are no solid symptoms?

my wife has had health problems with the general area of her abdomen , and has been seeing a number of doctor to try and find a problem that after countless test , and countless years now have not received any answers. now after around 7 years , they are apparantly going to give her a hysterectomy , even though the symptoms such as bleeding , fibroids and all the other stuff dont exist in this situation, for a match in symptoms , it seems more likely just in plain guessing that the symptoms would suggest endometriosis, from a carers perspective , I dont think the hysterectomy will fix anything , as all things have been exausted to try and find a problem. will doctors remove anything if a patient request removal of something , if the symptoms dont exist for a particular problem?

You're a good husband for searching for answers. YOU are SMART for making the connection that the symptoms don't make sense with having a hysto. I just read a book by a doctor last week and I was SHOCKED...he said in med school surgeons are taught 'to cut is to possibly cure' There is NO guarantee as you mention. Unless they have 100 percent proof of what is causing her pain, why let them cut on her?? There are millions of women who have this surgery and are wrecked there after... messing with a woman's hormones are messing with the very thing that make her a woman...There ARE doctors out there who will help you determine WHAT is CAUSING THIS! Don't know where you live...but consider a naturopathic doc...they do not treat SYMPTOMS like most mainstream doctors...they find the problem and FIX what is causing it. Do a search for a naturopathic doc in your state...there are listings all over the internet. My doc wrote a fantastic book that explains the connects between hormones and women and HAPPINESS! :) Dr Hotze - Hotze Health and Wellness Clinic - Houston TX

I wish you luck! :)

P.S. he has quizzes on his website that may help too

Is she having the surgery at the advice of the Doctors or is this an elective surgery to try and ease her discomfort?
Are there any other issues that may contribute to her condition such as weight gain or loss? Has she been tested for a condition related to her digestive tract? Diverticulitis or 'losis or any number of other things?

If there is no evidence that her reproductive organs are the problem I would hesitate to have them removed.

If she is not going through menopause she must consider the fact that a hysterectomy will cause her to go into premature menopause and with that comes a whole new barrage of female discomfort. Moodiness, dry skin, hot flashes, sleeplessness, constipation, not to mention the dreaded condition they advertise the poise pads for!!
There are side effects to the cure all hysterectomy also.

I would probably consult one more doctor at a different practice to get yet one more opinion before letting them remove organs that seem to have no disfunction.
Does she get enough excercise and practice good nutrition?

Good luck, tough choice.
Consult 2-3 gynecologists before undergoing operation.
I had the same problem and had a hysterectomy done . I had all the test done before the surgery and all of the m were negative after the surgery they sent the uterus to the lab and they did find abnormal cells inside of the lining of the uterus and endometriosis which was not detected by pap smears before the surgery. since Ive had the surgery the pain has gone away and i certainly don't miss my periods I forgot to mention they Left one ovary in so i would not go into early menopause
