breast MRI - anyone had one?

Today I'm having a bilateral breast MRI . I've been procrastinating about it since Jan.
My mom died from breast cancer in 2003 & her sister had it too but she has a double mastectomy & has been fine.
If you have had this test, did it take long to get the results? .. (biting my nails).

In the facility where I work, the referring physician always has the written report faxed to their office within 24 hours from the conclusion of the exam. The rule is 24-48 hours from the end of the exam until the physician gets the results. Imaging departments/facilities do not sent results directly to the patient (mammograms are the exception because of the FDA) unless you request it at the time of your study. The patient will then have a report sent to them via mail.

why have you waited so long? There clearly is an incidence of hereditary breast cancer in your family (which, as a side note, only accounts for 10-15% of all breast cancer cases). Waiting so long is never a good idea, and with a high incidence in your family, you should get checked regularly even if you don't have any lumps.

If the person operating the MRI is really good, they'll be able to see something the moment they take it. However, before they can give you the results, it has to go to a radiologist, then back to the doctor who ordered it, so up to a week, but hopefully in a day or two.
It depends on the clinic you go to. Some clinics will give you the results in a matter of minutes, while you're there. Others will sometimes give you a call a few days later. I wouldn't worry about it, unless you have a lump in your breast. Even then, you never know. I have a friend that alwayz gets lumps, but it seems to be fat. So even with lumps, it could turn out to be nothing. Good luck! :)
I got my results in a week, but i think it would depend on your doctor.

I had a breast biopsy about 2 yrs ago, because mine are cystic.
