why do women get facial hair?

Hirsutism is caused by abnormally high levels of androgens (male hormones like testosterone). Other common symptoms associated with a high level of male hormones include acne, irregular menstrual periods, deepening of the voice, and increased muscle mass. The disorder can be caused by certain medical conditions such as Polycystic ovary syndrome/disease, Cushing's disease, and certain tumors (i.e., germ cell) of the ovaries or adrenal glands that form when abnormal cells grow out of control and clump together. Certain meds like birth control pills, hormones and anabolic steroids can also cause a reaction causing excess facial hair. Hope that helps.

Women and Men both produce two hormones, estrogen and testosterone. Testosterone is the one which causes male traits, IE facila hair, larger muscle structure, etc.

Women also produce this, but usually in much lower levels. When those levels become higher, because of genetics or even from taking steroids, then they start to exhibit male traits. their voices become deeper, they can grow facial hair, and also develop larger muscles.

Most everyone has some amount of facial hair, but on a woman with dark hair it will be much more visible.
Because evolution and genetics dont care about social preferences.
