Not enough sleep.?
I never get enough sleep during the week. Are there any good ways to get a full nights rest? Am I going to have major health problems down the line? I'm not an adult yet. Can I make up for not getting enough sleep anyhow? Is this common in today's soceity?
Answers:
MOST KIDS DON'T GET ENOUGH SLEEP BECAUSE THEY CAN'T GO TO BED ON TIME FOR SCHOOL BUT YOUR FINE! IN HIGH SCHOOL I BARELY GOT SLEEP AND I'M FINE!
not getting enough sleep try going to sleep at same every night
and try not to eat before you to sleep.
try to close ur eyes when u go to bed dont think of anything just close ur eyes
Sleep is more important than people give it credit for. Lack of sleep can weaken your immune system, make injuries slow to heal, and cause weight gain due to the hormonal imbalances it creates.
You should really set a definite time to go to bed every night and stick to it. Try to get at least 7 hours, more if possible, but I know that can be hard for a student.
Don't try to make up for lack of sleep with caffiene or any other addictive substance, because eventually you'll become immune to it's effects.
It is very common for people not to get enough sleep. If you have trouble sleeping at night you may have a medical condition called insomnia. So far as I know there aren't any MAJOR health problems, but staying awake isn't good for your body or mind. Your body uses rest to heal itself and to recuperate( not sure if I spelled that right.) during the night. It also allows your conscious mind to rest so that your subconscious can process all that you do during the day.
If you are having severe sleeping problems you might see a doctor. Some doctors can prescribe medication that helps you sleep. It is important to remember that your body works off of a sleep pattern. If you take a drug to alter your natural sleep pattern the drug will creat a sleep pattern for you. It is then very uncomfortable when you mess it up again.( in other words, if you're going to take sleeping pills, make sure that no one is going to keep you up at night, as this will knock your sleep pattern off.)
Hope this helps.
Lack of sleep, poor quality sleep, and pushing oneself late into the night and thinking you can funcition on only four to six hours a night is a big problem with people of all ages.
With kids of middle school through college age the problem is trying to do too much with one's day.
Part of this is the parents' fault, by pushing all sorts of activities on their kids. Dance classes, karate, soccer, piano lessons, etc crowd a kid's schedule. And then there is homework, those "must see TV shows, oh, and maybe if they are lucky, a sitdown dinner with the family taking up their time. Then there're the hours glued to the X Box. All this activity fills up a kid's day and night. And if the kid is in highschool he/she might have a job eating up ten to fifteen hours a week. No wonder the kid goes to bed at eleven or midnight!
Then the kid has to get up in time for the seven-thirty or eight in the morning class at school.
The kid has to let go of something in order to get a much needed eight to ten hours of sleep!
Parents are to blame for getting the kid into all this frantic activity when they are grade schoolers. The frantic activity continues on as the kid gets older.
By the time he/she's in high school she's either burned out or still going, going, going.
And the part of the kid's life that takes a beating is the decent night's sleep!
I am an adult and I don't get enough sleep. Some nights I do. I think it is common.
Try to go to bed a little earlier every night. Exercise helps me to sleep better. I also like to drink a large glass of milk before i go to bed.
well john your qustion is very broad.so i will answer diffrent conditions hope that helps and also i will give u some general recommendations
first your age is very important.unfortunetly i dont know.any ways if u dont get enough sleep it can be due to behavioral problems or due to disease or both.i go with behavioral first.
A-behavioral:
normaly the amount of sleep depends on your age although after teen years is equal to adult.if u go early to bed you may wake up in middle of the night .u have to get 7-8 hours of sleep.
1-do some exercise in the evening(not very late).early in the evening
2-avoid napping during the day
3-if u recently changed your sleeping habits like nigh jobs,.try to get some sun during the day by walking it may help you circadian rhytm and regulate your sleep
4-avoid heavy meals at night and coffee
5-avoid smoking and even waiching tv for sleeping, avoid alchohol at night
6- have a hot shower and hot milk before sleeping
7-remember bed is not the place for thinking, stress or depression
if u have that wake up write it somewhere and then go to sleep
B-Diseases
well this part is realy hard to say here because i dont have any other symptoms and i dont have the opertunity to do a physical exam but i will give u some hints
if u have problem going to sleep or waking up or even waking up several times during the night u may have some problems like if u have depression u usualy can not go to sleep or if u wake up frequently for uriniating u may have diabetes or if u r old u may have prostate enlargment.remember if u wake up and cough u may have heart problem,if u wake up and can not breath u may have sleep apnea,if u r loosing weight u mayhave hypothyroidsm and..many other conditions
REMEMBER FOR ALL THESE CONDITIONS U NEED TO HAVE OTHER REQUIRED SYMPTOMS
most important thing is in most cases only with behavioral therapy as i said above the problem will resolve but if continue u should be seen by physician and evaluated for pathological reasons as i gave u some clus although the list is too long.if u find to have no disease and despite behavioral changesu sill have the problem u will be a candidate for drug therapy like zolpidem.
good luck
Before you go to bed have some hot shower first then after that take a glass of hot milk then go to bed and you can sleep well.
