hi, yes, i do smoke, although it is not something i am proud of! No, never lie because lies will come back at you, your kids and family, your parents, and others must accept you for who you are, regardless of your decisions or mistakes, and even though i smoke, i can tell you BIGGEST MISTAKE anyone could make. SMOKING SMELLS, KILLS, AND IT RUINS YOUR HEALTH AND TEETH.but, if you want to quit, you need to go cold turkey, i know. use the patch or see the doctor they hand out wellbutrin to help the withdrawls.honey, if you don't smoke, then don't ever try it! my older brother made us smoke while he babysat us, (if we refused to he threatened to make us drink toilet water!) so, at age 5 i smoked and now i am much older and it is hard to stop even though i want to
I am a smoker that is about to quit! My family gives me hell about it, and it really is bad for you. Its going to be a challenge! I have been smoking for about 15 years. Wish I would have never started!
I smoke and no, I do not hide it from anyone. I am an adult and smoking cigarettes is not illegal. I am not doing anything wrong or criminal and have no reason to lie about it. I actually don't want to quit. I really enjoy it and look forward to a smoke after a long day, after dinner and first thing in the morning with coffee. I have been smoking for 22 years but wish I'd never started. I always thought that I could quit if I wanted to. I did quit 2 times because I had oral surgery. I had to use the patch though. After going off the patch and detoxing from the nicotine I still wanted to smoke. That urge just never went away. My body/brain has been trained to want nicotine even after detoxing from it. My advice is to never start. Even people that have quit for years still have the urge to light up. That feeling just never goes away.
I was an exceptional swimmer as a teen. I passed an advanced lifesaving course at age 12 with one leg (my left knee was dislocated so I couldn't use it at the time). Now I have trouble catching my breath when I swim and have to swim slowly and can only do the breastroke or backstroke. I cannot even run a block without losing my breath. I don't wheeze or cough and only have chest pain while exercising. As a kid, I thought I would try smoking, then I smoked only a couple per day, then 5 a day and so on. My parents found out and tried to stop me, but by the time I was 14 they gave up. I was smoking in my bedroom and putting them out in little paper cups with water and hiding them under my bed. My parents were afraid I was going to start a fire so I was allowed to smoke outdoors after that. Then they let me smoke in my bedroom only during the winter time. My mom smokes so she knew that after I had been smoking for a couple years I was totally addicted and she could not get me to quit. She did try though. The only way to stop addiction to cigarettes is by NOT STARTING! Don't even fool around and have one or two because that's how it starts!
Oh, by the way; it hasn't made me look older or caused wrinkles like they tell you in school. That's BS. Most of aging is from genetics and a hard lifestyle. I get carded at bars and liquor stores and I am over age 30. My friends in college thought I was 24. The deal with the aging is that educated people know how bad smoking is and a lot of people have quit because of all the education being done about it. Because of this, a lot of people who still smoke are people that are uneducated w/ low incomes. Generally, people that are in low income groups and uneducated have more stressful lives, more substance abuse and lack of medical care. All those things add to the effects of aging. So, smoking by itself it not the sole cause of premature aging.
