IL. brother suffers from Duchenne's Muscular Dystrophy?

We need someone to come to the house to help take care of my bedridden brother. anyone out there know of anything or anyone to contact? he has medicaid, and public aid.

You may already know this, but just in case, Illinois' Department of Human Services has a Home Service program for individuals with severe disabilities so they can remain in their homes and be as independent as possible. If he's already on this program, but is having difficulty finding qualified applicants to hire, he can get help from a local independent living center. I, too, have a neuromuscular disease and must hire my own assistants. A book that I found to be helpful was "AVOIDING Attendants from HELL - A Practical Guide to Finding, Hiring and Keeping Personal Care Attendants" by June Price. She also had a neuromuscular disease. The VNA, Visiting Nurses, make home visits, but he needs a script from his primary doctor first. Usually, the insurance company only pays for a limited number of visits if they decide it is medically necessary.

You can call the state and ask what programs are available for home health care aides. If you don't know which department to call, start with your brother's case worker at social services or Medicaid or his doctor. They should have a list of providers who can help him.
Read what I wrote about MD. Your brother will thank you and be out of that bed in a few months?
You could try a hospice, in your area or a staffing firm for nurses.

Call the Muscular Dystrophy Association in your city, they probably have a list of people in your area that can assist you.

I'm sorry that your brother is suffering, I have worked witha lot of boys with DMD and I know how hard it can be on the child and on the families. I live in Canada so I'm kinda useless to you, but I just wanted to give you best wishes and I hope you find the help that you need for him.
