This might sound silly but how do you get rid of cold sores, I've tried everything.?
Answers:
I've suffered with these blasted things, all my life. My doctor gave me a prescription for Valtrex and it has stopped all of my outbreaks. There's no cure, but this medicine has been a godsend to me.
try abrieva.
the problem is that it's a herpes virus and there's not currently an actual cure
You pretty much have to let it run its course. They're an OTC product called abreva, but clinical trials have been confliciting on if it really works. It may shorten the course, not by much. There are some prescription products that would help. Don't bother unless you have insurance. Best thing to do it to keep it moist with some chap stick or carmex.
Cold sores can be a real pain! Once you get one, it takes a long time for it to run it's course. I hate to say it, but they can be a strain of Herpes. My first advice is to see a doctor!! Always the best way to make sure everything is ok!
The best thing to do is catch it early! Before it comes to full force. Keep it clean, dont pick at it, use some kind of lip balm like Carmex to keep it medicated. I have heard good things about Abreva, but it is expensive and you dont get very much. They can be aggravated by stress, so take care of yourself! Once they break, you either get something from the doctor or let them run their course.
honey and dont go out always open the heater
O.k. ; this is going to sound a little gross, but it works. Take a Q-tip and clean some of the wax from your ear and rub a little on the sore. It will clear up in a day or two. My hubby has cold sores every once in a while and thats what I do and it works. It's a old home remedy.
--You suffer the pain & let them run their duration!
Apparently these "cold sores" are a milder form of herpes, not the veneral disease kind:

Experts warn that forcing the body to an unaccustomed high level of performance could make you sick. The European reported: “Research by medical scientists has revealed that top athletes are far more susceptible than others to viral infections like colds, sore throats and sores.” Klaus Braumann, a medical adviser to the German Olympic team, interviewed 481 top German athletes. According to the daily Süddeutsche Zeitung, he found that they “suffer from cold sores on the lips [herpes simplex] four times as often as the average population.” Although it is estimated that in Germany about 10 percent of the population develop these blisters once in a while, there is about a 50 percent incidence among top athletes. “Each physical effort that exceeds a certain limit can weaken the immune system,” noted Heinz Liesen, an expert in sports medicine.Apparently similar to the head cold we contract, there is little one could do except maybe the following:

WHAT IS HERPES? Herpes is caused not by a bacterium but by a virus. Herpes simplex type 1 usually causes cold sores around the mouth. Herpes simplex type 2 usually infects the sex organs and surrounding areas. In rare cases, type 1 is found in the genital areas, and type 2 on the mouth.
HOW IDENTIFIED? Only a doctor with laboratory tests can make sure whether a person has genital herpes. Sometimes other diseases can be confused with herpes.
HOW SPREAD? Doctors feel that a person cannot get it from toilet seats or bathtubs. It is caught by actual contact with infected parts. Cold sores can be spread by touching or kissing when the infective agents are active. Genital herpes may be spread by any kind of contact with the genital areas."
--Could not find any treatment, but I suggest one does not pick at them--As we endure a head cold so it seems the same with cold sores!
