When I yawn my left ear makes a popping/clicking noise?

You know like when you're traveling by car up or down a mountain and your ears "pop" because of the pressure.well it kind of feels like that. I don't have any pain in the ear, but it does seem to be compromising my hearing a tad. After it does the popping it seems like I can hear better for a minute out of that ear and then gradually it returns to what it was. What could this be? Should I have it checked by a doctor? Are there any home remedies that might help?

You could be getting fluid build up in your ear - Your Ear is not infected yet obviously since you are not in pain or dizzy yet but. get it checked. It could lead to hearing loss if it is constantly like that and it is fluid build up - you need to get it checked to see if it is normal for you or if there is a problem with fluid.

I have had this problem myself and in my case it is fluid build up - due to allergies/sinuses etc.. Left untreated it turns into an ear infection if it does not drain on its own. If you do get this often - it can lead to permanent hearing loss in the long run.

One thing to do is whenever you take a shower or get water in your ears - put a hair dryer on low behind your ears to dry up the water inside (do not blow the air into your ear) Another thing you can try is putting 1 or 2 drops of rubbing alcohol into your ear while you have your ear tilted toward the ceiling - let it stay like that for one minute - then tilt your ear toward the floor and the alcohol along with the water will drain out. (This is a good swimmers ear prevention) The other thing is if it is from allergies you need to take a decongestant or something like that - this will prevent the fluid from backing up into your ears.

Pour bleach in your ears.
its perfectly normal i went to a doc. for the same reason and they said it was perfectly normal!!
The medical term is aural fullness.
It's TMJ tempromandibular joint dysfunction. My dentist told me that a flap of skin could be in between my jaw bones (?) and said there was nothing he could do. Aftedr 10 years, I finally went to a chiropractor (!) who fixed it instantly with a little alignment. Haven't had it since. Goood luck! When it lasts awhile, it starts to get sore.
the pressure in your eustachian tube is not equilibrated

its not a big deal, but if it starts to interfere with your hearing or starts to hurt I'd get it checked. You might have fluid build up behind your eardrum
The ear has different zones and comunications between the mouth and the outside world. When you travel specially when your are going up or down a mountain, our you are going by plane, the outside world pressure changes, but the inner ear dosent change so rapidly. The popping that you feel, is the inner ear trying to balance the pressure inside the ear and the outside, and this change may or may not alter your hearing.

If this feeling bothers you, you may chew something like bubble gum and it may make this feeling disappear.

sounds like you have some fluid in your ear. I get it all the time, usually due to allergies. the bad part is, if you let it go, it could possible turn into an infection. see your doctor.
What ever you do dont put bleach in your ear that is a good way to go deaf.
there are tons of funky names for it like flaps of skin and junk. but i have it too. its most likely just built up mucus in ur ears. its connected to ur nose. u know how when u blow ur nose really hard it fills up? anyways . if it isn't hurting then all its doing when u yawn is releasing the pressure in ur ear.. (letting the junk move around) so ur hearing improves. it will just slide back after though. (thats why old ppl get their ears flushed when they dont hear so good)
Have you ever cracked your knuckles? The cracking sound comes from air escaping from between your joints in your hand. Similarily, there are joints between the parts of your inner ear. The "popping" noises come from escaping air in your ear. I don't think you have anything to worry about.
