How can you cure hiccups?

It gets SO annoying sometimes.

To get rid of my hiccups, I drink big gulps of water. Other ways:

* Plug your ears. It may sound silly, but sticking your fingers in your ears helps short-circuit the nerve from your brain that controls hiccups – which are actually twitches from your diaphragm.
* Draw the line! Using a cotton swab, gently draw a line down the roof of your mouth. The "tickle" you feel stops the spasm in your throat that shuts off your windpipe and causes the "hic" sound.
* Breath into a paper bag. This trick produces carbon dioxide, which doctors say calms the diaphragm, stopping the hiccups. But only do this if someone else is around, in case you feel woozy.
* Press your index fingers into the soft areas just behind your earlobes. That alerts your vagus nerve to send a calming signal to your contracting diaphragm.

- To cure hiccups, rub an ice cube on your throat for about a minute. The cold short-circuits the hiccup signals traveling between your brain and diaphragm. You'll be cured in no time.
theres no cure. but you can stop them if you give yourself a fright (dropping keys down your back..i know it sounds weird but it can work) also drinking a glass of water backwards from the glass is also said to work
omg i love this question!! ok have someone scare you and if that dosnt work take a drink of water tip your head upside down and swallow (works everytime for me!)
Spray WD40 on your toe!
Take a deep breath and swallow. Don't exhale and keep trying to swallow untill you can no longer take it. By that time, the hiccups are gone.

You can also try drinking water and standing on your toes with your head facing the ceiling. This has also worked for me.

Or get someone to scare the * out of you.
a GREAT way to cure them...

lie FLAT on a flat surface, and raise your arms above your head, and STRECH! Then while streching inhale slowly, and hold it, then exhale SLOWLY. do that a few times and its gone!

This is because hiccups are caused by your diafram losing space or becoming compacted or even a bit squished. By streching you're letting it expand and breath.
My mom always had me drink a glass of water with my hand raised. I've found this works best at a water fountain, when you're hunched over.
Take a glass of water in your LEFT hand and take 3 drinks one right after the other swallowing each time without breathing. Voila' Hiccups gone *poof* Has to be left hand ! Oh you can breath now !! LOL
take in a couple teaspoons of sugar. my daughter swears by this.
i never tried the backwards drinking and scaring me doesn't work but what does always work for me- a dry piece of bread or a few crackers (or breadsticks, tortilla chips) chew it good, swallow slowly then sip, don't guzzle water- sit down & relax the diaphram and stomach.if ur able to, take slow deep breaths-why this might work is cuz something (maybe a stuck piece of food) is causing pressure on nerves which makes the diahpram to contract
apparently sipping a little vinegar helps - not tried it myself tho!!
