What could cause a person's eyebrows to fall out?

my daughter who is 19 came home from college this weekend and i noticed her eyebrows were thin, I told her she was over tweezing them and she said they were just falling out. Could stress cause this and will they ever grow back?

Answers:
Alopecia, which is a condition where all the person's hair falls out can be cause, but this is not that common. Also, this usually starts with the scalp. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/alopecia...

But, it may be stress if she is in college. Also, some people when reading or concentrating will unconsciously tug on their hair or pull out eyebrows as a nervous habit. I have lost some eyebrow hairs while in college from stress. If you are really worried, go to a doctor/dermatologist. Good luck!
she lied she tweezed them lol probally with her girls late at night ..yes sometimes an eyebrow hair or two fall out but not alot like ur daughter "claims" either that or she has that disease of pulling out the hair
Over-tweezing, stressful situations, (i.e. - school, lies, illegal activity) or... Kemotherapy?

At a retreat, the priest had no hair ANYWHERE and he told us he had kemotherapy, and that it fell out slowly.
Sometimes hair will fall out from a lack of vitamins. She might try taking a multi vitamin.
Excessively poring over books and ruminating over life's problems, meditating and focussing inward and upwards at her 'third eye', could cause the eyebrows to fall !
Nought to worry! It is a temporary phenomenon. When she comes down to earth and mingles with normal folks, the eyebrows will grow back!
she might have some sort of compulsion disorder. I have heard of one that makes people pull their eyelashes and eyebrows out. it is called Trichotillomania. It is not uncommon for people with these disorders to hide them. She may not be eating well, many a broke college student live on pizza and ramen noodles.
Here’s a list and description of the best-known conditions that may result in a loss of eyebrows.
