An odor from heparin?

I was in the hospital recently and had a pic (is that the right spelling?) line put in. Every time they flushed it out with heparin I would immediately afterwards get an overpowering smell in my nose. It was very strong and cloying, a bit like alchohol but also sweetish.

I asked around but no one else ever smelled what I smelt. One of the nurses said that sometimes patients can smell heparin from the inside...?

Does anyone know more about this or has anyone experienced the same thing?

Answers:
I've never heard a patient report that. However, I've been doing this long enough to know that patients don't read the medical texts on how they are "supposed" to act.

It's whats called an "idiosyncratic" (read : really unusual/individual) reaction.
I had no scent reactions to heparin during the flushes (that I can remember)
