Question for Physical Therapists?

I am interested in becoming a physical therapist, and was wondering about job satisfaction in the field. Any comments are appreciated!

I would say that for most, job satisfcation is high...in fact, many people leave their other careers to become physical therapists.

Burn-out might be higher in certain high stress level areas...inpatient hospital settings can cause burn out by being forced to do more and more with less and less...it really depends on where your interests lie.

I will say that to become a physical therapist, you must be willing to care for people. People can be difficult to deal with especially when they are sick or hurting. You really have to have a knack for "touching people's lives." I work with plenty of therapists who I think are brillant, but have lousy patient care skills...they are the one's who are burned out because they can't handle the "difficult" people.

It's an ever growing field with new research developing all the time...so it's really quite exciting. Job demand is projected to continue to grow...niches are developing all the time, so one can find what setting suites them best.

Best wishes.
