Does anyone know anything about harmony ear candles?

I just bought some and cleaned my ear with them, and the thing was loaded with wax. I decided right away that it was a gimmick. I held one in my hand as if it were my ear, and it also came out with wax once I opened it. Is this just something for someone to make money off of?
