What's the best way to stop smoking?

And don't tell me to just stop because that's not possible. It causes lots of chest pain and irritability. Basically, what's the best way to stop smoking without the withdrawal symptoms?

Answers:
Wellbutrin. When I was on it I could not even finish one.

As a matter of fact I am going BACK on it.

the patch
You will have more chest pain if you get lung cancer. I imagine you are still smoking since you are asking this. And um. you sound irritable anyway. So deal with it.
And don't tell me its not possible. I did it.
visit hospital where people are dying of emphysema
Before you stop - like 2 weeks to a month before - go to www.hufa.org and check out what foods one should eat to balance ones blood sugar. If your blood sugar is balanced prior to stopping smoking, and during, and after, you may be less likely to crave, pick up the habit again, and gain weight after stopping.

Good luck, and let me know how you are doing.
The patch, cut down on sugar in your diet. Eat a good protein breakfast, so you have more energy to make up for the stimulants.
Mmmmmm..Baaaacon
IF you smoke a pack of cigarettes a day, try to smoke less than a pack the first day by getting rid of two cigarettes everyday until there's no more cigarettes to smoke. Also, when you have cravings, chew a gum or have a candy instead. GOODLUCK!
I'd shoudn't bother, you'll be dead soon, anyway!
I would say if you can't just quit try out a nicotine patch with a lollipop. That way there is still actually some nicotine in your system, and the sucker helps with the habit of actually putting the smoke to and from your mouth.
my grandpa sucked on a lemonhead whenever he had the urge and he quit..
the real lemonheads.not the mini ones in the 25 cent box that has like 50 of em in it..the individually wrapped ones
First, do you want to stop?

If the answer is yes, go to your doctor and talk to them about Welbutrin. I smoked for 25 years, was up to 3-4 packs a day. I had stopped smoking twice, first time with Cig-arrest, second time cold turkey. They didn't work.

With this medication, I have been cigarette free for 10 years. I do crave one now and again, but it is easy to say NO.
talk to god abvout it, im 32 years old i have smoked 5-10 cigarettes since last august but was packs of marlboros a day between 1989 and last august! GOD CAN DO WHAT YOU OR I CANNOT DO ALONE YOU & GOD CAN DO TOGETHER ASK GOD IN!
call one of those companies that allow you stop smoking. As you already know, smoking is very bad for your body. If you have cigarettes then throw them away or sell them back to the place you got them from. That will stop. How come nobody else hat thoughten of that? I promise you, if you don't have cigarettes or cigars then how can you smoke them?
Cold turkey is the best way. You can't just limit that. It is tough the first few days , but once you have made up your mind and stick with it, it gets better.
I slowly started to cut back. Little by little everyday you can knock out one cigarette, but don't be too hard on yourself if you revert. Just remind to ask yourself "Do I really need a cigarette right now?" and if you can delay it, delay it. I was suddenly down to one or two a day and thought why even bother and never bought another pack. I still have cravings once and a while but they go away.
just stop. just what i did. sure, it has some drawbacks, but you will need a lot of determination. If you are a christian, pray to Him and ask to help you get rid of this thing. I will pray for you. God bless.
if its that hard for you to just go cold turkey, then do what alot of us do, and have success with .cut your smokes down to a half or ,maybe a little more than half, and dont smoke anymore than you put out in the morning, and do that for a while and then cut them down again to half of that. and so on and so forth until you can master your problem. but im telling you that all of us get a little nasty attitude when we try to quit cold turkey. wish you great success.. moe.
the patch, and a lot of water, chewed toothpicks, and reward Took the money I would have spent on smokes and saved for a year. Little over 1300 dollars I saved.
I TRIED HYPNOSIS, THE PATCH, PILLS, COLD TURKEY, AND A BUNCH OF OTHER STUFF. I STILL SMOKE. IF YOU FIND OUT LET ME KNOW. GOOD LUCK, HOPE YOU FIND SOMETHING
You should try a nicotine replacement product to help you quit. This will help with the withdrawal. The way they work is to give you nicotine without all the cancer causing chemicals of cigarettes. As you progress, you slowly reduce the amount of nicotine replacement until you no longer need it. They really do work and I can't imagine trying to stop smoking without some sort of help. The nicotine replacement products come in different forms such as the Patch and Gum. This site has info that may help. Good Luck !
well..its really hard
but its like a sacrifice you must jam the sigater on your tongue
