Have you had a colonoscopy?

I have to have a colonoscopy soon. I am not so worried about the procedure and going to hospital, that doesn't phase me. But I am really very stressed about the 'bowel prep' that i have to drink before hand. There is a few litres I have to drink and I am worried about how bad the effects of it are and how long it takes to work. How long does the bowel cleansing last and is it painful?

The bowel cleansing works almost immediately, and lasts for just one day. It was not painful at all, and neither was the procedure. Good luck to you!
The bowel cleansing takes overnight. It shouldn't be painful, however if you're real constipated it can be. Make sure you are not constipated before you start.
i had one done also, i admit the clensing of the bowls is not very plesant, it starts to work pretty rapidly,and is pretty much over by the time the test is done, they gave me something to relax for the test, i had some cramping during the test, not to, to bad.. youll be fine, good luck.
