My myopia doesn't stop getting higher although I'm 24!?

I'm 24 years old, and I'm myopic since I was 10 years old. Since then, my myopia is getting higher and higher, now they're -4,0 and -4,5. The doctors had told me that it wouldn't get higher after 20 something, but every year I find them having got higher. I wonder if they will ever stop growing. Hopefully I use contact lenses, and lenses as high as 24 or 30 exist but I don't want to be like blind. What do you think?

Answers:
Myopia will peak, however, you are 24 years old. Often times this will not stop until later. I peaked out at -4.50 at age 40. You may or may not stop here in the near future, it is doubtful that you have. If you were to be a minus 24 or 30 you would be more myopic than you already are. Be thankful that today there are polycarb lenses that are lightweight and comfortable. Not to mention contacts. Think of it on the bright side, the more myopic you are the longer you can prolong the inevitable, bifocals!
Also, make sure that you are seeing an Ophthalmologist and not an Optom. It is important to have those retina's checked by a medical professional
