What are the medical procedures to be used after a cystoscopy?
I had a cystoscopy done last december and it failed, the stent was very painful and had to be removed within the week. I was released from the hospital directly after recovery after the cystoscopy was done. Another friend had the same procedure done he was told he must remain on his back lying flat for a full 8 hours and stayed over night at the hospital to make sure the stent was working properly, he was male and I female. What is the best procedure to be used afterward?
Answers:
The difference in the two recovery procedures could have something to do with the difference in the anatomy of the two genders - the urethra in females is very short; in males, the urethra is much longer - it must go through the prostate gland, and then the length of the penis, and a scope or catheter that is introduced into the bladder through a male urethra causes more trauma to more tissue than one going through a female's.plus, sometimes men are more "wussy" about procedures than women are.
