Death itself is not horrible - It's simply the end of your existence. You can only suffer while you're still alive, and there are plenty of horrible ways to suffer - torture, starvation, thirst, sexual abuse, being eaten by wild animals. I'm sure you could think of more.
Confusion/no motivation about life and fear of death

To me if I am the one that dies; then I really will not know it:
BUT- It is a horrible thing to lose your child before you die.If the child dies before the parent, then that is almost like feeling death.
And it is also horrible to have a house fire and you are not home to save anything of yours.You lose everything you own except what is on your back.This to is like a death because everything you once had and cared about DIED.

Immortality would be worse than death, outliving loved ones, not being able to relate to anyone, seeing civilization degenerate, working towards something and always losing it, while at the same time, knowing that the negativity will never end, just accumulate. Either that or being in a state where you are aware of everything, but unable to do anything about it. Thats why life is such a gift, because every day is a new chance to do something and time to appreciate the difference that choices make.
