Does anyone have restless leg syndrome?

If so, how do you deal with it? I really don't want to take medication but I am losing a lot of sleep over this. Please help.

My Mom has it something horrible. She gets maybe 3 hours of sleep a night and that's if she's lucky. She's on a shitload of meds, but they don't seem to be helping. Personally, I'd go to the health food store and load up on vitamins and whatever else they may suggest. Meds, (doctor prescribed) will only lead to future problems down the road.

i think that me and all 4 of my siblings might have it. we always are moving our legs. 2 of us even in a way rock our selfs to sleep. i think its just something weve gotten used to and it really doesnt bug us but i think it annoys other people more. maybe try some herbal muscle relaxants
I'm totally against medication for almost everything. This "restless leg syndrome" runs in my family. My mom had it , I have it a little bit, so does my sister and one of my brothers. It seems like it originates in the feet actually. I'm thinking a good thing to do would be to start walking a lot. Build up some callouses on the feet to desensitize the nerves some. Walking barefoot might help even more. I'm not a doctor at all, but in my opinion the latest medical psychosis of prescribing medication for every little perceived anomaly is just plain wrong.
i do i have found that laying a heat on my feet or legs helps and there is this natural stuff called hyland legs cramps it elped a lot for me

I have been dealing with restless leg for about 20 yrs. I have found that a hot soak in the bath then stretching the muscles in the back of the legs (knee bends or walking up and down stairs) until the muscles feel relaxed not sore helps sometimes. I finally had to start taking medications, due to lack of sleep I developed fibromyagia. Talk to your doctor about alternatives other than medications he maybe able to suggest something for you good luck. Its such an awful feeling.
Before going to bed you need to stretch muscles in your legs.. If you have incline that you can stand on and then raise your weight forward upon the ball of your feet, back and forth 8/10 times will pull the muscles and relax the legs. If no incline, you can try putting toes and ball of your feet on a board, book etc., and raising your wt forward to stretch the leg muscles. Also try going to sleep by extending the legs, don't lay with them bent at the knees. Good luck..
yes I sufferd with that for years, I've been taking requip for 5 months now, and havent had any problem since. but its like $60 a month but its worth not being in misery! The med. doesent make me sleepy nor give me a hangover, It sure is a relief to go to bed knowing Im not going have restless legs, trust me you'll never have them AGAIN!!
You might try walking before bed. Not a full work out, but enough to really stretch the leg. That usually helps me. On the really rough nights I pop in a good movie and take my puppies out for 2 am play sessions!
