a patient enters an emegency room. the doctor is shouting get a CBC, a chem20. then he says ".and type and cross him for six units of cryo"
i need to know what's the meaning of "type and cross", i need the explanation in english (and arabic if possible)

type and cross means, the doctor wants a blood type. Cross matching refers to the cryo. Once you know the blood type you have to check to make sure that it is compatible with the donor's blood. Now they run tests in the lab but in the old days they would just mix the donors blood and the recipient's blood, if it clotted it wasn't compatible
