Try the website below, the book by Andy Behrman might also be of interest, that is called Electroboy and details Andy's own experience of Bipolar Disorder.

Yea, I know many people that have it.

People that can be really happy and all of a sudden be really depressed are people with bipolar disorder.

You can be with them having the best time of your life and all of a sudden they'll start crying and feeling depressed out of nowhere. You never know what their state of emotion they could be in. It could be a hassle if your partner has it because you have to be understanding.
Manic / Depressive.
Periodic mood swings between Mania and Depression..
My wife has had it for years and is successfully controlling it with Meds.
used to be called "manic-depressive" disorder. if you suspect that you or someone you know may have it, do yourself a favor and visit a doctor. they'll have plenty of info for you on the topic.
It is also known as manic depression. A condition where a persons mood can swing from being depressed at one point to being extreemly happy and manic the next.

Often treated with lithium.

Symptoms of Bipolar Disorder
Bipolar disorder differs significantly from clinical depression, although the symptoms for the depressive phase of the illness are similar. Most people who have bipolar disorder talk about experiencing "highs" and "lows" – the highs are periods of mania, the lows periods of depression. These swings can be severe, ranging from extreme energy to deep despair. The severity of the mood swings and the way they disrupt normal life activities distinguish bipolar mood episodes from ordinary mood changes.

Symptoms of mania - the "highs" of bipolar disorder

Increased physical and mental activity and energy

Heightened mood, exaggerated optimism and self-confidence

Excessive irritability, aggressive behavior

Decreased need for sleep without experiencing fatigue

Grandiose delusions, inflated sense of self-importance

Racing speech, racing thoughts, flight of ideas

Impulsiveness, poor judgment, distractibility

Reckless behavior

In the most severe cases, delusions and hallucinations

Symptoms of depression - the "lows" of bipolar disorder

Prolonged sadness or unexplained crying spells

Significant changes in appetite and sleep patterns

Irritability, anger, worry, agitation, anxiety

Pessimism, indifference

Loss of energy, persistent lethargy

Feelings of guilt, worthlessness

Inability to concentrate, indecisiveness

Inability to take pleasure in former interests, social withdrawal

Unexplained aches and pains

Recurring thoughts of death or suicide

its basically when you suffer from extreme mood swings. either you are really happy or really sad. you never have a balance. thats what my sister suffered from and was only cured with anti-depressants
bipolar disorder is a mental disorder characterised by fluctuations in a person affect from mania (extremely happy) to depressed (extremely sad). Mania is just as dangerous as depression as manic people believe that they can do anything.

If you see these characteristics in a person then they may suffer from bipolar but would have to be diagnosed by a professional
I don't know any ting about it but i am willing to know
Bipolar Disorder is a form of manic depression. It affects your mood. You can either be high (manic), normal, or depressed. Either end of the scale can be disastrous depending on the individual. You can find out more at NHS direct online. A friend of mine suffers from it.
I know lots of people with this disorder - mostly relatives. My mom, two of her sisters (maybe more), my sister, a former boyfriend, and yes it does run in families.
It is not uncommon for these people to also be addicts to alcohol or drugs. Prozac worked well for my mom but she refused to keep taking it cause it "made her fat".
A psychiatric condition in which someone experiences two poles, hence the name bipolar - mania and depression. My brother has it, in addition to other mental illnesses, and it becomes very difficult to manage with his mood swings at times.
