Ever been in partial hospitalization-how long was your stay?

I'm not sure what you mean by partial hospitalization. Does that mean you get to go home every night? (Kidding!)

I've had five major surgeries in my life, and it seems that the hospital stays get shorter and shorter. The last time, they hadn't even given me food or found out if I could tolerate being taken off IV pain meds. They unhooked everything, and said "Go home!" They didn't even wait to see if I could tolerate liquids!

Major abdominal surgery. . .and I was sent home the day after!

My point: Don't expect to be kept in the hospital very long, and make SURE you have some kind of help at home for the next week or so.
I've never been myself, but I've worked in mental health for quite some time. Length of stay will vary depending on what you're there for and how you're doing! I wish I could be cut-and-dried, and it would be easier if I had been in partial hospitalization myself and could just toss out a number, but.

I guess I would suggest thinking in terms of weeks rather than days, first of all. It's not like an inpatient setting, where you'll generally get discharged in ~5 days. Eating disorder partial hospitalizations tend to be a bit longer than general psychiatric partial hospitalizations, in my experience.

Sorry I can't be more specific.

Best of luck to you. Take care of yourself, and get yourself the help you need.
