Is there a name for a psychological condition in which someone never thinks that they are "worthy"?

I get incredibally depressed, because I'm very hard on myself. I never think that I am good enough for someone or good enough to have certain things. For example. I'm a musician and if I make one little mistake or finsih a recording than I want to go back and perfect it again. I beat myself up over nothing really, just because I don't feel deserving of acceptance or love if you want to call it that. I just want to know if there is a name for it and if I can stop thinking this way.

One possibility is bipolar disorder. A symptom is unrealistic beliefs in one's abilities and powers. Another symptom is an inflated self-esteem or feeling of grandiosity.

Make an appointment to see your family physician and describe what you're feeling and how long it's been going on. Ask for a recommendation for a psychiatrist or an LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker). He can't prescribe meds, but there are some who have quite a bit of experience dealing with bipolars. If he feels you need meds, he can refer you to a psychiatrist. After interviewing both to see which offers you the help you need, you can make an appointment for ongoing care.

Normally I would say a psychiatrist outright, but with today's health insurance crisis, not everyone has mental health coverage. The LCSW would cost less in terms of fees. They're an option that not many people know about.

low self esteem
It could be any of the clinical depression subtypes. See someone about it, get diagnosed. It's hard to get better on your own/.

I don't feel I'm qualified to answer this question.
It's called an inferiority complex.
its called being a perfectionist and having low self esteem
I think that you are suffering from what is called a low self esteem, but I am not a psychologist so I could be wrong
Low self esteem. Imagine the wonderful person you want to be. Trust me, I just passed a college maths class top of class.

Imagination is more powerful than knowledge: Einstein.
useless
You are a perfectionist, first of all.you have no disorder.you are just one of those people who can sometimes be your own worst enemy.maybe a bit of ego problem.some people are just very humble.and it doesn't always mean you have a 'mental' problem..maybe just part of your personality...however.ther. are people who have what used to be known as an inferiority complex.but that doesn't sound like you,.really..
Hi there I'm pretty much the same, and was sent to a physiologist, where i was told that i was suffering from emotional deprivation, not much help i no,but you do need to talk to someone about this ASAP,but there is nothing wrong with wanting things to be right, perfect well we all would like somethings to be that, but in music i can relate to that,as you can't have a recording wrong,so try not to be so hard on your self, what about friends,if they are few make some new ones, what ever you chose to do i wish you well, good luck
Wow, that is a perfect description of how I feel. I know that it is low/NO self esteem and I am an intelligent person but knowing it doesn't really seem to help overcome it . There is no childhood reason for it ; I come from a loving family but there does appear to be hereditary issues. My grandmother, mother, and now my daughter which greatly disturbs me because she has everything going for her (of course thats what everyone has told me my entire life). I think we need LIFE coaches !
It is called borderline personality disorder. Sorry to disappoint everyone, but low self esteem is not a medical condition. I myself suffer from a more severe case. Nothing will make it stop, but with the proper medication, it can be controlled. Most of the time you will feel great, but you will have a bad day every now and again.
you are depressed and sound like you are a perfectionist. No one is perfect and imperfections are what make people who they are. you have to accept yourself for who you are. you should see your doctor for medication for depression. there are meds out that will enhance your sense of well-being and stop your depressing thoughts so you can focus on your music and career.
