Is it still cutting if u dont break skin?

Answers:
i know the pain feels really calming, but there are better ways of releasing the pain that are less dangerous. talk to someone, cry, scream, paint, write, run, do kickboxing, but do not harm yourself, it only serves to feed the shame and self loathing
yes. Its really addictive behavior that usually worsens over time. If you're a the point where you haven't broken skin, then stop now.
it's "scratching"
Is it still baking a cake if you don't put it in the oven?

The answer to both is...

NO.
the level of abrasion to the skin is just semantics.it's the need to hurt yourself that is the issue!
Get help, before it gets worse!! There IS help. You don't have to tell anyone else but the counselor that you're seeing.
no. you can pinch it hard that leaves bruises.
yeh it is - its not worth the pain . Inshallah i hope Allah guides u in the straight path.

Hmm.even superficial cutting is a sign you need help. Don't let stuff build up, talk about it I made that mistake and now have scars that I have to live with. Even if you aren't breaking skin doesn't mean that over time you won't. Take care of yourself, I wish I would've now I think about when I have kids they are gonna see my scars, what am I supposed to tell them?
If you are taking a knife and running it across your own or someone else's skin, then whether it's actually considered cutting if you don't bleed is debatable, but if you're doing this, and I hope that's not what you mean, there's still a definite problem. Please talk to someone about this. Guidance counselor, minister, etc. I'll keep you in my prayers.
No, because you're not actually cutting anything. Is the behaviour still unhealthy? Sure, but if you're not breaking skin who cares? It's not unsightly.
Its not the actual utting (or scratching in your case) that you need to worry about, its the fact that you need to do it, it is trying to mask something else. Get help and you will be fine dude.
I think so. I never broke the skin when I "cut" because I used to "etch" in my skin. I thought that way it wouldn't scar or bleed but I was wrong.

I would say stop now but any one who's ever cut knows that it's NOT that easy. Once the thought is there and the action takes place, just once, it's a very hard temptation to resist.

But good luck. :-)
No, but it shows that you are dealing with some major issues that require either counseling or at least talking to a sincere friend.

Felix---your answer is INAPPROPRIATE and YOU HAVE BEEN REPORTED!!
I don't think so, I used to cut, but if I could go into the past I would definatly stop myself!
yes it is. If you aren't breaking the skin now things will escalate and they will do so quickly. Don't let it get out of control.
i believe this would be called "scratching" (not sure on the spelling?)
I strongly believe it would be a mistake to begin to cut. It is very addictive and I have lost or almost lost more people than i care to remember due to it.
it is still self mutilation. it is how most cutter start, start with a paper clip then a knife then a razor blade. it gets deeper with each object. talk to someone, let them know what makes you cut, talk before you are covered in scars.
