I recently had been prescribed Zoloft By my DR..?

I think I took my dose too high too quick. On day 7, my Dr ok'd 100mg which I think was a big mistake. Everyday since then I have had really bad headaches...From how i have described them everyone keeps telling me they are muscular or tension headaches. Over the next week, I gradually went down to 75 for a few days and then down to 50mg. Yesterday morning I had a follow up with my dr, and told her what was going on, and she switched me to lexapro, 10mg. I am not going to rush it this time, but has anyone had headache problems with zoloft? Once my system finally levels out will these headaches ease off? I am currently on flexeril and advil to try and combat them, and am going for a ct scan tomorrow morning as a precaution. I am just really frustrated because they seem to start in the morning, and go all day, and make it hard to work and just live life. Any advice?

You should already know, flexiril is one of the most powerful and addictive muscle relaxants around, so it is unlikely you are just having 'tension' headaches. If you read the info on your prescription, headache is a possible side effect of practically every prescription drug today, with the possible exception of opioid narcotics. I also was switched from Zoloft to lexapro, but Zoloft at a much higher dose seemed to do it for me. I currently take 200mg daily, along with xanax for anxiety, Lamictal as a mood stabilizer, and have been doing very well. But everyone responds in slightly different ways, so just go with your doctors recommendation for the time being. Strangely enough, many people can get even migraines to lesson with just a cup of strong coffee, and aspirin!

I didn't get headaches, but I got a funky skin rash after a few days, and my doctor took me off them right away.
I always get those for about two months with anti-depressants.
Ok.take a deeeep breath. Seriously. Try to relax about this all. Tension does increase headaches and depression.

Many patients complain about headaches when they begin increasing doses of antidepressants. The key is to go slowly and increase a bit at a time. Ask your doctor to let you go slowly. Adjust to each dose and then increase. Flexeril makes it hard to cope with life since it knocks you out! Try massage, heat and ice to the neck where the pain for your headaches might come from. Move your neck and head around gently at least once an hour so you don't freeze in one spot.
Remember that antidepressants are altering your brain chemistry and there will be initial side effects, but they do fade if you can hang in for about six weeks. The relief from depression is worth it.
Remember to exercise to help keep all your muscles in shape. Don't let the depression win.
