can employer's see if someone has been in a mental hospital in the last 5 years?

my bf had a brief stay just for depression about 2 years ago and i'm just curious how much employes know. thanks

No is the right answer, but my employer had me sign a paper when I started working there as many do apparently that he used to find out what hospital I was at. So I doubt they will but It's not unheard of.
