ADD people please help me!?

I have ADD and I just started on Foculin this morning and I had to come home from school becuase I was feeling so bad.has anybody else had problems with this?

I understand what you mean.Focalin and Ritalin (dexmethylphenidate and methylphenidate) are both HORRIBLE drugs for any purpose. One of my ex-girlfriends was prescribed it and I am prescribed Adderall, so I thought I would give that a whirl.
It is such an unstable drug (Focalin) in terms of therapeutic effect..makes you spun out one minute, ready to pass out the next and this continues for a couple of hours then you crash hard. Adderall is a much better drug in terms of onset, plateu, and wear-off. Supposedly, Desoxyn (methamphetamine) is the best drug, having less side effects and a smoother come down than even Adderall. So, in my opinion, having tried most ADD medications, Focalin is not an effective drug and if anything would mess up an individual much more than help. Simply tell your doctor what you are experiencing and that you have done research and would like to try Adderall or Desoxyn. Desoxyn, being methamphetamine, is prone to stigma due to its massive illicit production, use and resulting addictions in those not taking it therapeutically. Might even be a bad idea to request this, as your doctor might suspect you of abuse. Best wishes and seriously, try the Adderall as the Focalin is obviously ineffective for you. Also, Adderall is available in a generic form and I think that Focalin is not, so you would probably feel better and perhaps save some money.

In the UK I work with children and young people that are medicated for ADD /ADHD. There is often side affects and they are sometimes severe. Before you took the medication were you told what side effects there were? If this is a new one that you were not warned about or is on the container you need to return to the doctor that perscribed them so they can be sure they are right for you. There are lots of medications, many families over here do not like using them at all, but some schools say their children have to be medicated to even be in school!! i think that is wrong! It is new to your body so maybe it is your body saying "hell what is this!" I hope you can work something out and I am sorry i have not really answered your question! Take Care - CJay
i am so sick od hearing, add adhd cod ,it's all a bunch of lableing for probs ppl have from some kind of traumas the suffered groing up, so much easier for doc to lable it and hand out drugs that make the probs worse instead of getting to the real probs and helping ppl deal with it , without useing experimental drugs that can harm u even more.i seen it first hand , my friends son was put on anti deppretion drugs and it destoyed his liver at the age of 12 now he needs a liver transplant, so u tell me,it sickens me that theese docs can use ppl as ginny pigs
I've never taken that one specifically. I had problems with ADD medicine when I was younger and had just started out. One made me very tired and I wanted to sleep all day but then I couldn't sleep at night. One made me loose weight when I was always very underweight in high school. People started to say I had an Eating disorder. One made me have very bad drymouth. The doctor said different ones are for different people. Tell your doctor and you will try different ones until you find the one that works best. It is a pain in the *** because it takes a long time but eventually will pay off.
Not familiar with that med. Feeling bad how? Stomache, head? Had you been on something else prior? Or are you recently diagnosed?
My son is on Adderall which has been increased a little each year (4 years) since he started taking it. Get stomach aches sometimes but other meds were worse. Lesser of two evils.

Check with your doctor, most ADD meds have some possible side effects. Everyones body chemistry is different and you will react to meds different than anyone else. Maybe try other meds.

My son has ADD and since I didn't want to put him on medication, I looked for alternative measures. I put him on a Homeopathic vitamin called Attend, which is support for attention difficulties. It really works for him. You can order it online from the Nutrition Health Center at www.add-adhd-help-center.com. I did a lot of research on this. He was born 14 weeks premature and is way underweight, so I didn't want him to lose his appetite like with other medicines. This really works for us.
