Can using internet too much make you feel depressed?
Answers:
No, because depression is a side effect of saddness
yes, using a computer too much will. if your on the computer too much its best to leave, atleast for the weekends leave the house find a place with people or friends and do something different, find a hobby , what i do is go fishing and that helps me but now im addicted to fishing :) i'd rather be addicted to fishing than feed my addiction with a computer.
It depends on which web sites you go on. Generally, Yes.
Too much of anything can become depressing.
Yes. I know because it happens to me all the time. Particularly on sites like AnyQA.com where I am overwhelmed by all the dumbasses who really think they're smart, just because they can outsmart the other dumbasses who are even dumber than they are. In fact, just thinking about the internet makes me depressed. With the anonymity provided by message boards, people fight and slander and spew misinformation out of their asses. Since the dawn of civilization, we've known that large groups of people all speaking at once always turn into mobs of idiots, but not until the internet did we really come face to face with it.
We've got MYspace and YOUtube and whatever else, that make everybody feel like anything they've got to say actually holds some sort of weight. Nobody looks for answers. They just wallow in their own stagnant beliefs and find others on the internet who share those beliefs. It's one of the reasons people everywhere are becoming so hopelessly polarized. Take AnyQA.com , for instance--people are asking opinion-based questions, and then choosing as 'best answer' the opinion they agree most with! They aren't asking questions! They're starting a self-indulgent bitchfest.
And when you read all the hyped-up, misleading information supporting one side of any given issue, you are only a link away from all the hyped-up, misleading information supporting the other side. It's impossible to trust anything.
The sad truth is, not everybody's opinion is meant to matter on every issue. Yet, on the internet, everybody is talking. Just talking and talking and talking about anything they can think of. It removes us from one another. While it is meant to promote human interaction, it does just the opposite; nobody shares and develops ideas with others. They're fed this "express yourself on the web" crap, and it makes them shut out anything beyond themselves. In short, it's making us retarded, and there's no way to stop it. It's going to get worse and worse. And the really hopeless thing is, here I am writing all of this over the internet. Nobody is free.
My opinion is yes if it is keeping you from being social with friends and family.
I think that doing anything too much can cause you to feel depressed. You need variety and balance in life.
First of all I don't use the internet so much. Secondly, I think it will be the attitude or which site do you frequent? If you think it is so depressing then why bother to sit all day long in the internet; get another activity. Try to loosen up. It has got something to do with what you made out of you.
