Reoccuring thought, not dream?
I keep having this thought that I am going to get hit really hard and really fast by a large object, either a train or a truck, like a MAC truck. Why do I keep thinking this? Its been like this for about 4 months now.
Also I asked a question with only 1 point, apparently you dont need 5 points to ask a question.
Answers:
Everybody has these dreams and we just learn to deal with them. I felt like I was always going to crap my pants on an airplane, but I stood up and went on an airplane and everything was cool. So dont be afraid man, face your fears, hang out at truck stops, walk by the highway at night, and run through the train tracks, what doesnt kill you only makes you stronger.
The influence of accidents on the road evidently dwells within you. If you drive concentrate on safe driving in decent stopping distances and remain concerned for those who don't.
just wait for it,,,,,ur gonna die
you are seeing your oun death
Well it sounds like an obsessive thought...do you have any other features of obsessive compulsive disorder? Any other intrusive, recurring thoughts? Or any particular things you do which decrease your anxiety?
What are your reactions to this thought? It could be a version of a panic attack.
Has an accident like this happened to someone you were close to recently? Last year my family had 2 drownings one month apart. I frequently think of drowning & what it must feel like. I still love to swim, but won't swim alone any more.
I don't know how you could translate this to your situation, but after my nephew's death, I had the image of his 4 year old body laying on the hospital table popping into my head several times an hour! I gathered several pictures of my nephew & when that image of him popped into my head, I'd grab the photos & look at him smiling at his birthday or hugging his grandmother. Finally, the horrific images faded away.
If these thoughts get disruptive, talk to your doctor. A simple chemical imbalance can take what is a simple, fleeting thought in most people & turn it into a fear, or realistic, nightmarish, sensation.
Recurrent, obtrusive, unwanted thoughts can be a symptom of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, or OCD. If you are becoming disturbed, seek help from a cognitive behavioral therapist. He or she will help you to overcome your obsession and function with a more happy, healthy life. Good luck!
