How can I stop pulling out my hair?
I don't even really think about it- I just pull, when I'm bored or nervous. I've read a few things about trichotillomania, but I haven't found much advice beyond 'don't be bored'. I was hoping my anti-anxiety medication would curb the urge, but it's still the same, and my hair is getting worse. Does anyone have any advice that worked for them, or someone they know?

The best method of treating trichotillomania is training yourself to engage in a competing behavior. You can do this yourself, but if you find that you need additional supports, then you could go see a psychologist and they will help you through the steps.
Firstly, you need to find a competing behavior to engage in. Folding your hands in your lap is an example of something that would work (you can't pull out your hair if your hands are placed in your lap). Every time you find yourself touching your hair you need to put your hands in your lap and count to ten. Enlist the help of friends/family members - have them prompt you to fold your hands if they see you touching your hair, and have them give you positive feedback about when you do this on your own.
You can do this! I also used to pull out my hair when I got bored and I've had to work at not doing this. Trichotillomania is a habit disorder, and new habits take 30 days to train. Try to use this technique over the next month and see how you do. It might seem tough at first, but if you stick to it, then it'll seem easy in the end (and your hair will thank you for it!)
Good luck - and don't listen to the smart *** answers from other people who think they're being funny.
Try going to counseling for that.. i saw a person on mtv who had the same problem as you
Shave it off
I think that may be a form of OCD. You need to see a doctor and get meds that will help stop compulsive behavior.
rub sum garlic juice on it it will stop you hair from coming out also.
Practice...at not doing it force your mind to have control over your habits
Wear a hat
find something else to do when your nervous say you could squeeze a rubber ball or tap fingers try to turn it into a more healthy habit
go bald
oh i saw something bout that on mtv, the girl kept pulling out her hair and she had to go and get therapy! thats not much help, bu thats all i got, sry
Try wearing a hat for a while. Even inside. You need to retrain yourself. With a hat on, you'll be reminded every time you reach up to pull your hair out. It takes at least 30 days to break a habit. During that time, wear a hat as much as possible and learn other ways to deal with your emotions.
ok go see a doctor or somthing or buy a wig
