Do I have a social anxiety disorder?

I;m normal. Sometimes I like attention like around my friends and other people when I feel like good. I hate being in tight-spaced classrooms that seem small and am able to see everyone's face cuz it feels like they're all staring at me even though I know they're not. I have these weird tremors like when I turn my headsometimes [if people are staring at me], my whole body gets weirdly tense, and my head shakes it's weird. And I hate the whole classes attention on me, cuz I start to shake most of the time. I hate going up in front of the class as well. And throughout all this, my heart starts beating fast. This just started last year and I'm only 15. I really don't want to talk ot anyone about this, but I know I need to. What is wrong with me? I'm sick of it.

I have the exact same problem and with help you can get through it. I am taking baby steps and enforcing positive thinking. Remember, people don't judge you as much as you think they do. It can be hard. I know! I have anxiety attacks, panic attacks, etc. My parents have been very supportive of me and my dad is a teacher so when I am in his class he stays positive and tries to keep me calm. Deep down inside you know it isn't a big deal but you can't help but feel scared. If you start listening to the part of your mind that is right you will feel a lot better. Good luck! You can do it!

P.S. I have the same problem, I'm your age, and I like boys too!

Just breathe in slowly through your nose, don't expand your chest, let your stomach expand, and breathe out slowly through your nose. Do this 5 or 6 times in a row, relax your neck shoulders and think to yourself "it's all in my mind". If you do it right, you'll be amazed how well it works.
It sounds like some kind of anxiety. Or it could be the awkwardness of being 15. Talk to your doctor about it.
Life is pretty hard at 15..lots of challenges..anxiety.but i really would not call it a disorder. But, i'm not your Doctor. See your PCP.(family Doc).talking may even help. Good luck.keep posted
Dear Friend,
I graduated with a bachelors in Psychology in 1999. I am NOT a doctor, and I am NOT a psychologist though. (I chose to remain in electronics!?)
You are certainly displaying serious anxiety reactions. I'm sorry but we MUST be honest with ourselves. are you drinking alcohol or experimenting with any drugs? These can cause your feelings, and if there are other problems; alcohol and drugs can make them much worse.
Obviously, I don't even know you, but I do care! You really must get help. Try first with your parents, and if that is not possible. perhaps your school nurse or other counselor. Please, do try to get help.

your nervous or having panic disorder. theres medication for it that helps like xanax i take a low dose everyday for mine.
I too suffer from anxiety disorder and have an extremely high fear of crowded places to the point of doing my shopping in the middle of the night to be able to complete this everyday task. Im no Dr but I know that some types of anxiety can be controlled with medication and counseling can help you retrain yourself to be more in control of this very real affliction. You have already taken the first step by realizing that there is something wrong and having the courage to ask. Now go a step further and ask your regular Dr to refer you to someone who specializes in this field. There IS help for you. Its only a matter of telling the right person. You'll be surprised at how relieved you may feel after you really realize that this is a medical malady and not you losing your mind. :o)
