Yes! It shows that even men cry. everyone is human and have emotions. It's OK for a man to cry. I loathe the fact boys are brought up believe that they are wussies for crying. They have feelings just the same. Nobody should be forced to bottle it up.

I think it's important for them to see him cry so that they understand that it's okay not to always hold their emotions in. If they are taught to hold in their emotions they will grow up filled with anxiety and stress.

I was brought up never to cry and to take everything in, but my experiences through out life have led me to believe that it is ok to cry, it shows that you are human and that you have feelings. Unfortunately it is too late for me, just by holding my emotions I have become numb. Best of luck!

Seeing a parent upset to the point of tears is very traumatic to a child. But if it happens that a child sees it, I would think that later the parent should find an opportunity to explain to the child that it is a normal human function. Children think of their parents as invincible, and Dads especially as tough-guys. It's important to reinforce that we Dads get upset too, and not just at scolding time. And if they laugh, spank them good a couple times. Just kidding.about the spanking part.
I think it would depend on their age and how they handle their emotions. For example, if they were from about the age of two to 7, I don't think it would be a good idea. You would also have to take into consideration how they reacted to certain situations, like when their dog died, or when something that they cared about was taken from them and never to return. Did they handle it good? Were they indifferent to the situation? However when they got old enough to understand. Showing them that everyone needs to cry sometimes, shows them that everyone has feelings. Which in turn will help them to recognize their actions or how they make others feel. It ends up being a good lesson. So yes, it's alright for a man to cry in front of his children.

Most definitely, crying is a very natural and healthy emotion. I would be very disturbed, living with a man, who couldn't cry in front of his children.:)
I think that it is not unhealthy to cry infront of children. This will let them know that when they cry, it is acceptable, and it will also give them a sense of belongingness and fitting in.
