does topamax make you lose weight if so how much did you lose with it.?

For most people it will make you lose weight. I lost 40 pounds.

When you first start taking it you lose about 5-10 lbs but after you take it for awhile you stop losing weight..
My mother and my friend are both on Topamax..
I lost about 20 lb in a few months each time. This is my second time (starting again). Both times I gained the weight plus more back within two months.
It did me. I lost 13 lbs. My body was at a standstill. I was happy for that. I was having horrible headaches and it has really helped with that. I was eating like crazy and now I just eat to be nourished. I do not care about junk food anymore. I still have horrible headaches, but they are not as bad. I am not exercising because of other illnesses. The weight has not come back. I like the medication personally. With exercise and better eating I feel I will be able to lose more, but other health problems are in the way currently.
yeah it makes you lose weight, but i wouldnt take it just for that purpose.
Yes!! Topomax does make you lose weight during the initial 6 months or so. It is a dramatic loss so be very VERY careful about your diet!! I lost about 35pounds when I was first put on it for migraines/siezure management. It did wonders for my neurological issues, thank God and believe me, I was not complaining about what it did for my figure. The thing is, unless you actually have a significant amount of weight to lose, you run the risk of having a major issue with your weight.

Anorexia is actually a side effect of the medication. Be very careful, it's a serious condition that sneaks up on the smartest of people who think that they're doing the right thing with their diets. Next thing you know, you've lost entirely too much weight and you've got yourself a garden variety eating disorder.

I knew what to look out for when I started taking the medication so I was very cautious with my diet/exersise routine. I did the anorexia bit as a teen. Had the t-shirt, it's in the back of my closet and don't ever want to see it again, thanks very much. The weight loss I had was the last bit of my baby weight that I'd already been working off, and I'd done it graduly.

One of the side effects of the drug is that it can help you lose weight by surpressing your appitite. So far I have lost around 35 lbs, but I have also been eating healther and I eliminated a lot of junk like candy, cookies, ice cream and ect. Plus, I have been going to the health club 3 times a week.

However, Topamax also effects memory and concentration too!
