What personal experience have you had with DID?

Answers:
I had a friend during my undergraduate degree who had DID. I didn't believe in it before, but she had three very distinct personalities. So much so that you could tell "who" she was before you even spoke to her by the way she was carrying herself, her mannerisms, etc.Her condition was exacerbated during university and she eventually dropped out of school.

She experienced severe childhood sexual abuse, which was probably a root of her DID. Eventually, she went to a clinic in Ontario that specializes in it, and, though I've only talked to her occasionally in the last few years, she is doing well, though she is still in therapy.

On a more clinical note, I've discussed DID a bit in school, but the consensus seems to be that there is no consensus on it. I think personal experience is the best judge in this case.

I frequently use the word "did' on a personal basis. I have have much experience. Ask anyone he or she did too, and I am sure they will be veterans in the "did." I already did. We all did. Only small infants did NOT.
