Preschooler anger?

I have a four-year-old son who still has a hard time expressing anger. He still throws fits and sometimes when frustrated he will hit himself in the head or face. My husband yells at him for it and then tells him he is going to take him to the hospital and he may have to stay at the hospital because that behavior isn't right. I get into a fight with hubby over this because a lot of kids this age go through this (hitting themselves or others when frustrated) and I don't think yelling and threatening is the way to help our son. I am considering calling our family doctor for advice but what do you all think? do kids grow out of this?

It wouldnt hurt to talk to your doctor or a counselor. They might be able to help your son find ways of dealing with his anger.

I have a daughter that has selective mutism. It is an anxiety disorder. We finally got a therapist that is showing her how to identify her feelings and then how to deal with what she is feeling. It has helped greatly!

Good luck! I know your frustration!

call the dr in the meantime.give him so playdough to pound on. You should help him now to figure all these things out.
