Releiving anxiety with booze and pills?
I have a really bad anxiety disorder where im afraid of everything, mostly the fear of death for years now and the only solution for me to relax and be less tense is booze and lorazepam. Is there another way to change this vicious circle of fear?

bad idea
It almost sounds like you experienced something very traumatic in the past, that now is still haunting you.
I can speak from personal experience, Booze will only make things worse in the long run.all it really does is numb the pain, and over time works less and less, and the next thing you know you are an alcoholic. Luckily, you do not have to take that path. There are a number of health care profesionals out there that you can speak with regarding your issues, or possibly find some group meetings in your area that relate to what you are going through.
Important thing to remember, you are not alone. There are alot of people experiencing the same thing you are. If you attend church regularly, or know of one you like, try talking to the pastor, priest, etc. and see if they can recommend someone that you can see. Otherwise, there are numerous free help centers in every city that can help you deal with these issue.
I'm sorry to hear you're struggling with a severe anxiety disorder :( If it gets to the point in which it's impairing your ability to get throught the day, I would recommend therapy (to help identify what is causing the anxiety, and to reduce symptoms). Below is a link to find a therapist.
Many people self-medicate (via alcohol, drugs, eating disorder symptoms, etc) to manage their anxiety. While these things may temporariliy help, it's like putting a band-aid on a wound that needs stitches..
There are other things you can do to manage your stress and anxiety levels (but I imagine you've already tried these..)
-meditation
-relaxing music
-walking, yoga or another form of exercize
-a balanced diet
-regular, full night's sleep
Best of luck!
I had anxiety really bad where I couldnt fall asleep because I thought I would die in my sleep. Drinking made it worse. I would panic when i felt the affects coming off. I eventually started just taking walks outside and my Zoloft helped some. I guess you have to try and fight it mentally or you will become too dependant on pills and booze. I am feeling a lot better. I do have an attack for no reason out of nowhere, but I try to focus on something else and get my mind off of it.
yes dear.in order 4 u not 2 becum an alcholic or a drug addict u should stay away fr those harmful poisons ur filling ur body with.this will not help u at all as when ur sober again ur problem will b even bigger.go 4 counceling, relax, take long walks on the beach.just try n relax n give urself a break.dont worry what people think or say about u.n pls dont b afraid of death.if its ur time 2 die then so b it only the ALMIGHTY knows where, when n how.Prayer is the best.ask GOD 4 guidance and HE will help.always remember that HE carries u when u think HE isnt there.
GOD BLESS and good luck
Are you f_________ing crazy? Who the H drinks booze and takes pills. You need to seek some professional help.
You need to watch mixing pills and alcohol together. Most anxiety pills DO NOT MIX WELL WITH ALCOHOL.
if you love your coffee, you may have to stop. there is even caffeine in tea. i have found this has decreased my anxiety. too much alcohol eventually can give you hypertension(high blood pressure) but is ok in small doses. i definitely wouldn't have more than a glass a day. the pills i cant advise you on, not a medical expert. good luck with your anxiety , try observing what you eat and if you get enough sleep. dope can also give anxiety problems.
I would find a good Psychiatrist for finding a diagnoses and be able to provide you with both support groups and medication to help you. It may me a common anxiety disorder. Mixing the booze with meds is not good, but some people do this because the meds or lack there off is not working and they are self medicating There are a lot of people who are on meds for the rest of their lives but they have their lives back and are contributing member to society.
Oh no, I sure hope some Dr has not prescribed Lorazepam for you for the long term . It is a narcotic and should only be taken for very short term . Also take it from me , Drinking alcohol is a
definite DEPRESSANT . I know from experience that this is exactly the wrong road to be headed down . It sounds like you truly want help so please keep talking , and asking questions until you find the proper help for you ! You deserve to have a happy life.
level with the MD who is prescribing the lorazepam. the MD needs to know the full extent of your anxiety so that s/he can give you complete treatment.
I don't buy that alcohol his necessary. It is an excuse to do what you want, which is drink.
