What does it mean when I have a recurring night mare?

I am going out for a pass, the ball comes right to me, I catch it and start running for the end zone, but the uprights keep getting farther and farther away and the other guys are catching up to me. And then I wake up out of breath, and I never get to make the touch down. Am I crazy? Do I need to kill myself because I'm a loser? I haven't played football in fourty years! Hardly even watch it on tv.

Answers:
No! You do not need to kill yourself! You are not a loser! Everybody has dreams like this sometimes when they are under alot of stress. You are clearly worried about something. Find a friend to confide in, someone who has some wisdom who can advise you. Maybe it's time to make some major changes in your life to eliminate alot of the stress. This can be done constructively. Talk to a priest or pastor.

no. it means you need to talk to a professional and stop worrying about things. you seem to young to be worrying.
I don't think it's anything to do with football. Maybe there's a goal you want to reach in life and you haven't obtained it yet.
Well when you wake up just visualize a happy ending for that dream. Do this until the dream is happy in the end, or you stop having the dream. It is important to visualize the happy ending RIGHT after you wake up--5 minutes at the most. And do that consistently.

Or just don't sleep..j/k
nitemares mean that bad weather is coming.
or the weather is going to change... colder/hotter etc..

seriously. dont worry so much about it.
The football is a metaphore. You are worried about doing something, but you run out time before you finish it.

My dream fear was where I was going somewhere, I knew the neighborhood, but I could not find the street. It got dark, I could not see the numbers on the houses, and I would wake up sweating.

It was because I have so much to do in my life, there is not enough hours in a day. Once I realized it, no more bad dream.
Well, having the same dream (nightmare) over and over only means that it is something that you are concerned with.
I know some of football but I dont know what uprights are. At either rate, it sounds to me that you are afraid of loosing a game, that you somehow feel the game depends on you and you are letting everyone down.
I do not think you are crazy.
The first thing I would suggest is to confront your past. Take some time when you can be free from any interference, and think back to your childhood time. When you did play football and try to remember what it is that is causing these nightmares. My guess is that when you 'confront' the issue the nightmares will go away.
In the event that they don't you have a choice of living with it, or seeing a therapist.
Dreams are how you replay your life. Only difference is everything gets scrambled and your brain tries to make a story out of it. Kinda like putting winnie the pooh on the titanic and your aunt's kitchen is on the side of the ship..and why is Donald Trump bugging you about some shoes you wanted to buy?

I personally dream about the dead. I guess it impacts me a great deal when there is a death. I am afraid of water, so I dream of it too. We had several deaths in our family in one week and I spent two weeks dreaming about them being on my bed and all over my house. Tooooo much death.
