why do some people turn to food when stressed?
Answers:
Food releases the 'happy' chemicals in our brain, which is part of the reward system. Like drugs, when someone is feeling stressed or depressed, they might turn to something harmful to calm it. The best thing would be exercise.
because food is yummy
cuz it helps
food alot easier to get , then drugs
well at least they are not taking drugs they are taking food but greatquestion though
because they revert to a child, or even a fetus, when food was coming down the umb cord almost at will; Same feeling you get
when you hold back your poo to mach it last while taking a
dump and reading a magazine. It's a primal anal thing, comfort food. Anything that makes us feel back in the womb is primal, including sucking on various pointed objects
The food helps to forget for a while.
It's a comfort thing. Some people are comforted by the feel of the food in their mouths (these would people with oral fixations most likely to also smoke, chew on their nails, or some other kind of oral manifestation) when stressed. Eating certain fatty foods also pleases the palate which some people focus on to take away the stress or anxiety they feel.
comfort-fave foods from childhood, etc.some people, myself included are the opposite, just cant eat a thing when ur upset.hunger is a weird thing, very psychologically dependant.
In this situation, it's known as "comfort food". It often happens to children when parents (usually the mother) offered them food to calm them, distract them, shut them up, reward them and comfort them. And, too, some foods cause the brain to release endorphins that make them feel good. It's no wonder that some people have such pleasant and deep seated associations with food.
Some people turn to food when stressed because it gives them comfort and relieves the tension with something enjoyable. On the same hand I turn to cigarettes when I get stressed because for me that is a tranquilizer of sorts for the nerves.
so the can eat off the presser
Well people have to turn to something when they are stressed.
So then, it is a matter of genetics.
Genetically speaking every human is proned to have a disposition towards something.
Some people its cocaine, others alcohol, exercise, sex, even murder, food, love, anger. the list goes on and on.
Basically food, drugs, physical activity, and emotions all release endorphines in the brain, which makes your body happy.
So whichever of these makes you physically feel the happiest, is what we turn to.
Unfortunately my family is what me and my sister call "emotional eaters" hhahaha
Then the task is to be able to assess what your body likes the most, and limit your dependency on that.
Carbs & some other foods release "happy chemicals" in the brain.
