How many people here judge others how intelligent they are, based on their grammar and spelling?

Answers:
Not me. I know from personal experience that proficiency with a language is no indication of intelligence in other matters.

we all do..but sometimes we misspell things for pure laziness and not lack of intelligence..
well when I meet people, I can generally tell by how they speak.but online I give everyone the benifit of the doubt considering I'm a terrible typer, I speak much better than I type
I do
I do. If you can't put a sentence together, I question your intelligence.
Not me, grammer and spelling are no big deal to me.
I DEFINITELY DO, BECAUSE YOU CAN TELL ALOT ABOUT SOMEONE IN JUST A FEW MINUTES BY JUST HEARING THEM SPEAK.
How can you not?
I do. It's a very good indication.
I always do, unless I know that English is a second language for them.
Why people judge others anyways??

Who the **** gives them the right to do that. Bloody shitheads.

Dont bother we all make mistakes and typos are very much common as most users are heavy chatters.
i tend to do that sometimes but i think that isn't fair so I try to always remember that's not true . some people may be good in grammer and spelling but poor in other areas. we all hve our weaknesses and strengths
i do. whenever i see something misspelled, if it's obvious that it's not a typo, i get REALLY annoyed, especially if i'm reading something online. it takes exactly 3 extra seconds to look up a word on dictionary.com to make sure it's spelled correctly, so why don't people do that? i don't claim to have perfect spelling or grammar but for important things, yes, people should take the time to make sure they've spelled everything correctly and used proper grammar. it makes a much better impression than saying "definatly" instead of "definitely"--that one angers me the most.
The question is not grammatically correct. Does that make the person whom wrote it unintelligent?
ya I duz
To a certain degree, I do, but I do know that some people are terrible typists and not everybody speaks English as a first language. The latter should be given some leeway in regards to errors.

Two of my pet peeves:
Probley
Prolley
instead of probably!
I dafinately does awl tha time. I meen their all kind of sub-literite idiots out there pretanding that they have had gone done school learning when they are teribly eggnorant of effryting! I look for bad spellengs and grandmas so I can tell dam from the intellektuals like miself.
I tend to jump to the "unintelligent" conclusion upon a first reading if there are many misspellings, but if that is the only thing wrong with an entry, sometimes I'll put it down to dyslexia or lack of schooling. I've seen plenty of well-asked and answered questions that don't follow the rules of grammar or spelling, and I attribute it not only to inherent problems like the ones mentioned above, but also to the fact that this forum encourages quick questions and answers. As in the email format and chat format, people would value speed over accuracy in these fora. So, even if I rush to judgement at first, I usually reconsider based on these factors. This is not an academic setting, and an English Ph.D I know well tells me, "I'm off duty," whenever I admit to a grammar or spelling mistake in his presence. Informality rules, and spelling/grammar laxness would be part of that informality as I see it.
Grammar and spelling are both very strong indicators of, not intelligence, but training, education and your level of literacy with the English language.

Someone from another country may not be as proficient in their grammar, syntax and usage of English words, but that doesn't mean that person is less intelligent; it just means they are not native speakers of English. Try writing a sentence in Chinese, Japanese or Korean - see how well you do.
People need to know their relative location in the human hierarchy with other people, and an accurate assessment of intelligence is one good measure. It helps us decide whether to listen to them or not, ignore them or not, etc. Probably instinctive.
I never did.It is far more important to me, the content of the answer, not the spelling.some of the best spellers don't always ask the best questions or answer them as well either.you have to learn to read between the lines so to say.
Since I write for a living, I am very critical of the written language. Words that are spelled wrong and grammar that is used wrong makes me crazy. It is not worth my time to read something that someone has put absolutely no thought into and that they don't care about enough to run a simply spell check or re-read their paragraph.

Just my own personal opinion.
