If you are on seroquel and bipolar please let me know what you think of it.?

I'm bipolar and was put on Seroquel a little over a year ago. I'm only on 25mg and it is extremely sedating if you take it for no reason at all. Rather, I take it before I go to bed to calm my mind so I can sleep. I have bad insomnia sometimes and my thoughts race when I lay down to go to sleep. The Seroquel really helps with that.
Seroquel does help a lot with manic episodes. Let me explain.
I had a full blown manic episode back in March. I cleaned my entire apartment, did about 10 loads of laundry, I couldn't sit still, couldn't eat, my mind was racing, I had the shakes, etc. It was terrible. I finally called my doctor in the early evening. He told me to take 100mg of the Seroquel. I was scared to death to take 100mg because 25mg knocks me out. I took it anyway and prepared myself to sleep for like 2 days! Well, about a half an hour or so after I took it, it had totally brought me out of the manic state and I was normal again. I didn't even sleep!
So, yes, Seroquel is a good drug for bipolar disorder!

I was put on Seroquel and for the life of me I can't remember what they said was wrong with me that taking that poison would help. I can remember it took about twenty minutes after taking it for it to knock me out. Then when I woke up I would do nothing but look for food and ended up gaining tons of weight. I went off it, was able to lose the weight and regain a sense of alertness and cognitive ability. As far as I'm concerned, the stuff is just pure garbage. My opinion, ask your doctor if there's any alternative medication you can take. How ever it works out, good luck.
My wife was on seroquel, all it did for her was give her the munchies and make her sleep. She would be in a half awake and half asleep state and sometimes not remember what had happened. I personally think it is a bit much for bi-polar. But it would depend on what other drugs they have had you try prior to it.
SEROQUEL IS THE ONLY DRUG SO FAR THAT HAS HELPED MY BIPOLAR..BUT ITS SO SEDATING ..
Seroquel makes you gain weight like mad. I put on 14 lbs in 1 month.
