a QUESTION ABOUT OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE DISORDER?

can this disorder cause someone to be obsessed w/ there looks?

Answers:
It depends on what they are concerned about.

Some people are body dysmorphic. They have a distorted image of their bodies, never thinking they 'look ok'.

If, on the other hand, somebody spent one hour checking and rechecking their hair, finger nails, clothes etc before stepping out of the door, only to go back indoors and check everything over again, that would be OCD.

Definitely.
Yes it can. Obsessing with your looks can also be part of other disorders like Body Dysmorphic disorder, where your view of your body is distorted, also anorexia and bulimia nervosa patients obsess about the way they look.
NO

It can be task related though to brushing your teeth or washing your hands. A large percent of OCD is hygenie related.
I imagine it could.there are disorders that zone in on their hair for instance.or just low self esteem could also be the culprit..trying to please everyone else and to be accepted by everyone else, and worrying about what everyone else will say.
I just canit get my Avatar right! now what could be wrong.
yes. talk it over with your doctor.
it's a possibility. make an appt. to see your physician and see what they think. i have ocd in making things perfect..i don't think it's ocd but i've been told many times that it is. LOL.
Yes. If you spend way more time than normal obsessing about how you look it could be OCD. Or you could just be very insecure. Or a teenager (lol). But seriously if this is bugging you see a mental health professional who can diagnose you if you do have OCD. Antidepressants help with symptoms and therapy might help too.
Yes.it can..the obsession in OCD can deal with just about anything.
An OCD patient can be obsessed about anything. They usually obsess about a few choice things though. And how they actually live out their obsession can be different for each individual.
You guys are right, but there is OCD personality disorder as well as OCD disorder. Two different diagnosis. I don't think you have anything to worry about.
