Is there any relationship between IQ and mental health?
Answers:
Yes, there is a very loose relationship between IQ and schizophrenia, at least. They say the higher your IQ, the less likely you are to develop schizophrenia in the first place, and the better your treatment outcomes, once diagnosed.
No. See "A Beautiful Mind" for a great example on film.
nope .some psychopaths are known to have very high iq.
No. Because their are many mentally retarded kids who are very smart, and there are completely normal people who are really stupid. It all depends.
No matter the IQ..it doesn't affect the chemical imbalance which causes mental illness.
Apparently, depression and anxiety are more common in people with high !Qs.
i don't know.many genius people had mental problems.
i would have to say "yes".
i have a fairly normal "IQ", however, i can be pretty darned brilliant concerning things of enjoyable nature.
mental health diseases are caused by many different factors.
i grew up with a virus and it caused me to be a difficult/slow learner, however, when i enjoyed a subject, i did quite well.
in my case, HCV was the culprit and it changed the chemistry in the brain. i still suffer from hcv brain fog (not depression, although at times it can make me really sad because some days i do not drive it's so bad, or i am scatter brained and forgetful).
The virus passes the blood brain barrier and since the liver is affected, the toxins it was unable to filter or process ended up floating around up there.
So, yes, IQ is affected by mental health, but.. mental health is affected by illness. So your question should be:
Is one's IQ level dependent on how healthy or unhealthy a person is?
Answer: Yes.
I would further like to state here, that "Wisdom" is probably the best route to a great IQ.
A person can be "book" smart, but that doesn't mean they understand the full concept of the subject.
