Answers:
Yes, Teva Pharmaceuticals released a generic form of Lamictal (Lamotrigine), but just within the last year.
February 17, 2005 - Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. announced today that it has settled patent litigation with GlaxoSmithKline relating to lamotrigine, the generic version of GlaxoSmithKline's Lamictal®.
The terms of the settlement, which remain subject to government review, provide that Teva may, on a date not later than June 2005, distribute in the United States a generic version of lamotrigine chewable tablets (5 mg and 25 mg).
The also have permission to create the generic in higher doses, but not until 2008.
There is no generic for Lamictil so I'm not sure what drug you are talking about. Drugs must be marketed for a period of time and I think that is 5 years but could be 10 before a generic is made.
