Preservation of personal safety. Being around a person that is mentally unstable is an unsafe condition to be put in without proper controls. Even with medication a person that is schizophrenic could hurt or kill a person and not even be aware or in control of their actions when doing so.

because they think it might be catching! Thats what the voices told me!!
I think out of all the mentally ill people I have worked with, schizophrenics are actually my favorite.
I'm not scared of you. That's just your voices telling you that.
I'm afraid of nothing, ready for the next level anytime.
Having a split personality, you don't know if the person you are now talking to is the same person you spoke with a short time ago.
From a layman's point of view I would say it's because you have no idea what's going on in their heads and how they will react. You may be saying a friendly hello and they may interpret it as a death threat.
because they don't know what to expect, due to lack of understanding of the disease.

. and even if they do, they know the consequences and difficulty in dealing with these people. Their chemical imbalances make treating them and being around them a sometimes torturous friendship/kinship.

It's a sad and difficult state to be in - for both the person with the problem and the person trying to be supportive.
Because schizophrenics have a tendency to think Carson Daily is the devil and should be killed. And then they have a tendency to think everybody around them is Carson Daily.
I think it's because you dont know if person is going act or if the person is going to harm you or them selves. Schizophrenic is a tricky disease.
/why?! is there one here NOW? Where?
