Exercise is how I deal with it.
What is wrong with a theripist? You say it like it's a bad thing? How bad is it to talk to somebody about what is bothering you?
if you are asking you are that far, get help, there is no other way.
get a good friend that you can trust with everything
walking, listening to music. bubble bath. reading. getting ur hair done or pedicure or manicure.
Stay busy, don't make time to think about what depresses you, get a hobby, clean something, go shopping stay busy. I wish my wife would try to get off the meds.
you cant cure depression. i thought that i could just be happy and have fun too, but eventually i had to get real help just like you are going to have to. if you go now it will be much easier than in a few months. depression is litereally the chemicals in yourbrain ******* around with each other and screwing you over. if you dont seek help it will nly get worse
Vitamin B complex and St. Johns Wort, and taking a walk every day, or some kind of physical activity. I use Shaklee supplements as they are extremely reputable.
There was one significant time in my life when I wanted to do the same thing, and the answer wasn't in taking a medication, but in not taking one that I was prescribed and taking for a very long time. After going off, the depression cleared. But maybe you're not taking anything that has a depression side effect.

The only other offering I have is to first try to identify (if possible) what is the subject matter of your depression. By isolating the possible cause, it may be possible to lift yourself out.
Just remember that there are people that can help you if you decide you do need it, because sometimes it just isn't something you can handle by yourself. It does not mean you are weak.

Exercise is a great help. And also, you may want to go to the bookstore or library and get some self-help books about it. Try journal writing, and try to write some positive things about yourself. Try to change the little voice in your head that is telling you negative things.don't listen, change what he/she is saying. Try doing some positive visualization and some affirmations. Talk to yourself in the mirror and try to recite positive things. Sounds nutty, but it helps. And just get yourself moving. Try to force yourself to be around other people and not too lmuch of your time on the computer!
Good luck!
Eat healthier foods and start an exercise program. Avoid refined sugars and trans fats. Try to eat homemade meals as opposed to just eating fast food/frozen dinners. Oatmeal, whole/multi grain cereals and fruit make excellent snacks. Make sure you drink plenty of water too.
You'd be surprised at all the problems you can have just as a result of bad diet or a lack of water. Also, try to relax by soaking in a hot bath a few times a week with the lights off-maybe some candles. Helps take your mind off of things
Getting over depression "naturally" without seeking professional help is not that simple. You warned us that you did not want us to recommend a therapist. But please understand that you do not have to be "far into depression" to see a counselor. Seeing a counselor can assist you in getting over your depression naturally just by talking and sharing your feelings. Seek professional help before you "fall" deeper because depression can be a horrible feeling.
Hi, Do you know what is causing your depression? Like a relationship breaking up, death of a loved one, or financial problems? Have you thought of hurting yourself? If so then you must see a Medical Doctor to get medication. Some depressions are caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain. Your brain throws out the chemical that keeps you happy ( so to speak). This type of depression can only be helped with medication. You can read some self-help books. If your depression is related to your situation at this time, then you must change it. If I knew more of your symptoms I could help you more.

Get out of the house. A change of scenery helps. Go out and buy yourself something nice like a new outfit and new shoes and accessories to go with it. Listen to happy music and watch shows that make you laugh. Good luck.
Eat lots of fish. Fish oils have special chemicals in them that have proven to reduce depression. Excercising also helps a LOT!! Relax yourself. Do something you enjoy. Garening...watching a movie..swimming...daydre. whatever.
I exercise to help me feel better. Also make your self do stuff you don't feel like doing at the moment. If you know it will make you feel better after wards. Like going out with someone or shopping or getting your hair done.I also figured out with myself that the hormones in my birth control was making me alot more depressed and I didn't realize that it was from it, till I quit it. So if that could be a possibility you could look into that.Or if your on any other medications that could change your moods.
I suffer from depression myself, but everyone is different. I have had episodes of clinical depression my whole life. But, I have been without major depression for years until a few weeks ago. It's frustrating because I have done so well for so long, and now my life is really good, so I really have no reason to be depressed. But that doesn't change the reality of the situation.

I do my best to exercise, eat well, etc. But sometimes just getting out of the bed, taking a bath, getting dressed, etc. are more than I can bear. I'm going to get meds, which my husband doesn't approve of, but will support whatever I decide.

I don't know if my situation can help you, but I hope so.
